Thalia's preschool photos today
These photos were taken by Thalia's teachers today and shared with all of the parents. Today was Thalia's second day in her new classroom. Most of these kids were in her class last year. Thalia is looking at a big photo board with photos brought in by the kids. Thalia brought in Disneyland photos to share!

Day # 5 of Kindergarden
Here is a fun photo taken on one of the new bike racks in Albany not too far from Sophia's kindergarden. Thalia and I delivered Sophia to the classroom and then we had a nice morning to ourself, which involved a trip to the library and lots of make-believe together.
When I picked Sophia up from school she informed me that today was her fifth day of kindergarden and that each of the four kindergarden classes baked a big gingerbreadman during class and then when they went in to the kitchen to take them out of the oven, there was nothing there, only a note telling them they had a fun time in the oven, and instructing them to look for them in the office. When they checked the office there was only another note asking them to check again tomorrow.
Sophia also reported that she learned "Little Boy Blue" today and she recited it to us.
This morning at drop off I was talking to a YMCA representative, Tiffany, who told me that yesterday afternoon Sophia and Hazel and Zelda asked the teachers if they could perform the swan dance (from Swan Lake) for all of the kids in the after school program. I loved hearing that.
This evening we all went to listen to music in the park - at Memorial Park. Tonight was the first of a series of free concerts that take place on Wednesday nights in September. We've gone for three years now and they are so much fun. This time we ran into old friends from the neighborhood (Zoe and Kiana (who also goes to Cornell), as well as friends from Ducks Nest and also Catherine, Sophia's fiddle teacher, and families who I have photographed this past year. And kids from Sophias' kindergarden class. Sander, from her class, walked up to us and said hi. It turns out he lives a block from the park and is also a late bird. His sister is two years older and also had April as a teacher.
At the end of the concert, just as Thalia started to melt down, the whole crowd saw a big rainbow over the stage. It was so beautiful. And then it started to sprinkle. Perfect timing.

Thalia's first day of school as a wood duck
Today was Thalia's first day of school as a wood duck. One of her teachers took this photo of her all dressed up as a princess.
We all dropped Thalia off at Ducks Nest today and then Steve left to take Sophia over to Amelie's house as he needed to get to work and I wanted to stay a few more minutes with Thalia to make sure she felt comfortable. She was a little shy but was happy in the room and happy to see Sinian and Cecile, who had been her teachers in the Duckling classroom last year.
She was happy to see her friends: Hazel, Maddie, Zola, Reese, Brayden, Austin. She even saw an old friend, Julius, from Wawasi days.
Its off to a good start. She seems happy.
